House Mathey Outdoor Entertainment Area

Originally the patio was covered with stretched canvasses because the client did not want to have a standard steel roof. These are effective in providing shade, but are not waterproof at all. The client requested us to design a roof that will tie in with the house - timber were used on the inside of the house - as well as with the well maintained and manicured garden.

The roof covers the entire patio with a timber construction and slatted timber ceiling. Where it connects to the house, clear sheeting were used to allow for maximum daylight penetration and to the sides bespoke handmade timber louvres were installed to make the roof watertight. The screens to the the north were constructed from timber slats to mimic the surrounding tree branches.

This project shows that a beautiful, well designed patio roof will enhance the outside entertainment space as well as the home aesthetics overall and does not have to be a boring steel construction.
