Cradle Ridge House 52
The very narrow site is located against a hillside with beautiful views over the surrounding areas. The client wanted to optimize the use of the sloping site and the expansive views, but we had to stay within the estate rules which only makes allowance for 2 storeys, with the first storey being only a percentage of the area of the ground storey.

Working within these parameters, we created a semi-basement for the garages and store room with the entrance hall next to it with stairs leading up to the main ground floor. The ground floor houses the entertainment and living areas as well as an office and the first floor comprises of 3 bedrooms, a pajama lounge and a gym.

The double storey entrance hall is filled with light and colour from the east facing double height glass wall with modernistic style coloured vitrex panels as well as the various shaped smaller windows in the east and south walls. On the first floor, clear storey windows in the north and east walls allow for maximum daylight penetration into the rooms.

The ground floor is optimised for entertaining and a cosy boma is built into the moutainside at the back of the site.
