Concept Aviation Training Centre

We were approached by specialized Commercial Aviation company with an Africa wide footprint to design a training facility for them. The facility had to make provision for pilot and cabin crew training as well as technical staff training and accommodation for trainees from outside South Africa had to be provided on site.

We chose a site with a northern entrance. The building is designed in a U-shape with the reception area centralized between the two main training wings. The separate accommodation building is positioned on the south side enclosing the communal courtyard.

The buildings are designed to be energy efficient with well insulated walls and roofs. The use of specialized glass in the windows ensure minimum heat gain while allowing good daylight penetration. Sun control louvres keeps direct sunlight ingress to a minimum.

One of the unique features of the cabin crew training area is the lap pool to simulate accurate water evacuation training simulations.
