THE PROJECT: ORLANDO SOCCER STADIUM

This stadium is designed for 40 000 seats and construction was completed in 2009 before the World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa.  The stadium was not planned for a world cup venue but was a back-up stadium that complies with all FIFA standards.

The Super 14 Rugby series final for 2010 was played in this stadium.  The intimate atmosphere of the stadium was noticed by most of the spectators and media commentators.

The building cost per seat was 3,6 times less than a similar size World Cup venue stadium.

The main vehicle entrance is flanked by two curved walls that have a twofold purpose: defining the entrance and displaying the stadium name. The light masts were designed to match the layout signage at the pedestrian entrance to the stadium.
