THE PROJECT: HOUSE VAN DYK

The site overlooks the Mooikloof Valley towards the east.  The house is designed due north to let the winter sun in but the roof overhangs excludes the summer sun.

The living area is linked with big windows and sliding doors to the covered stoep on the east. The pool next to the stoep is above the visitors flat on the lower level.

The internal living area can be enlarged by opening the two large doors dividing the living space and the 4 garages.

The double volume living area with windows above the bedroom suite and the study on the northern side allows maximum daylight into the internal living areas.

The curved roof design reduces and softens the internal volumes.
